Welcome to Kottman Equestrian Center! First things first!

Here the focus is on giving beginners of all ages solid foundations.

The emphasis of this business is that learning good horsemanship should be affordable for every family.

Please have a look around the website and discover what can be offered for you!

List of Services Available:

Lessons: $40
Lessons are given in approximate one hour blocks. This includes working with the horse on the ground, cleaning, tacking, as well as riding time. I try my best to keep these to an hour, but we will always finish what we are working on and end the lesson in an appropriate place for both horse and rider.
Please note: Lesson blocks leave plenty of time between students. This enables me to keep the students privacy secure. Also, helmets are required when riding. I encourage all students to purchase their own!
I do offer to give lessons at a student’s location, with their own horse. The cost of these lessons will reflect the additional time spent travelling as well as fuel used.

Please contact me for information regarding pricing for 4-H club lessons!

Beginner’s Day Out: $60
This is a two hour course designed for those that want to try lessons and are unsure if they want to commit to them weekly. It is structured to introduce a student to the world of horses and be a more in-depth first dive into our curriculum.

Leasing: Half Leases are available for $200 per month
Leasing is a great option for those that want additional ride time during their week. However, Leases are only available to current students who have demonstrated the skills necessary to take the best care of their equine partner! All leases include a weekly lesson with me and will include the ability to take the horse to shows.

Training: Dependent On Circumstances
Previously, I have not offered training due to the extreme nature of requests. I am willing to work with any horse reasonably.
You may contact me with requests, I will want to evaluate the horse, and we can go from there.

Show Prep: $20 for the first hour, $10 an hour for every subsequent hour
If you need help prepping your horse the night before a show, I am willing to come help you. This means that if you are unsure of proper clipping or banding, I will teach you. If you just need a hand/company bathing and doing these things, I’m here for you as well! Please have all products and tools needed available!

Day of Show Help: $50 For Local Shows
If you need an extra hand prepping, tacking, gathering patterns, and giving advice during the warm-ups, this is it. Perfect for the rider going to a show by themselves! We all know how nice it is to have someone to help, talk to, hand us a water bottle, and do a final wipe of our boots while mounted. Subject to availability.

About

Let me introduce myself…

My name is Hannah Kottman and I am the resident Trainer here at Kottman Equestrian Center. As an avid young equestrian, I found out first hand how hard it can be to grow into the world of horses without much pocket money. Although my riding and working with horses started years earlier, I had been assisting trainers and teaching students to ride since 2007. In 2015 I took the plunge and started this venture on my own. I had learned that keeping students uninformed created a rotating door for trainers and this goes against my core belief. Creating more uninformed horsemen/women and sending them out into the world is only hurting the industry and almost all of the time, the horses being used. Everyone should be able to learn and be able to afford it. Good advice is often hard to come by and pricey. Thus entered the base idea for this business.

No fuss. No frills.

To keep costs low, you will not find fancy stables here. I do not have an indoor arena (although I would love one), no fancy tack rooms, no wash stalls, nor incredibly expensive horses. Don’t get me wrong, a good schooling horse is worth its weight in gold!

What we do have are nicely schooled horses and tack to fit them that is also adjustable for you.

By operating on my property and upgrading as I go, I have been able to offer my services for reasonable costs. The more students come in, the better I plan to make the place while keeping costs low.

The main goal here is to give you/your children an all-around understanding of your horse, it’s needs, how to work with it effectively, and teach base riding that can be used as you venture into any discipline. If the day comes that you want to specialize beyond my scope, I will help you find a good trainer in that discipline. And I will always be here to give that solid base advice if needed.

Take a look at the page of services offered and contact me to start your journey! I look forward to meeting you!
